Sunseeker Resort was announced in Late August 2017. Sunseeker is a new, luxury development in Southwest Florida, more specifically the harbor in Port Charlotte. This new development will encompass 22-acres to be filled with a variety of hotels, restaurants, taverns, a 1,000ft long pool, and the largest in North Amercia.
The Sunseeker Resort project will be lead by Allegiant Airline, which flies direct to many destinations around the U.S, including nearby Punta Gorda, FL.

The Sunseeker Resort development will encourage interest in new business and commerce in Southwest Florida, especially the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area. While the ultimate cost of the project is yet to be determined, it is expected to add over $1 Billion to the local economy over the first 10 years and create hundreds of new, permanent jobs.
Until announced, the project was kept quiet but renderings of the project prove that meticulous detail was put into planning. After the initial permitting and due diligence period, Sunseeker Resorts hopes to move quickly on construction, completing the project within an incredible eighteen months after breaking ground.
The project is the brainchild of Allegiant Travel Co. President John Redmond. AllegiantAir currently offers travelers direct flights to Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) from 41 cities in the US and Canada. That number is certain to grow when the project is completed.
The confidence that AllegiantAir has shown to this area will help continue its steady growth and popularity. The recent addition of Western Michigan University Aeronautics and Flight School to Punta Gorda Airport and its partnership classes at Florida Southwestern University in Punta Gorda will also bring educated professionals to the area. Suncoasteam Realty agents are eager to be part of these exciting area developments.
Sunseeker Resort Update
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers confirmed that it issued a permit on 11/29/2019 for a 934-foot concrete seawall which will extend from the southbound bridge of US 41 and along the west side of the resort property facing the Peace River and Charlotte Harbor. The seawall will create public access “Harbor Walk” to the resort restaurants and shops. Plans for the resort are also changing. The plans now foresee a 420 room hotel in the first phase of the Sunseeker Resort.
Groundbreaking for the project is now planned for April, 2019 with construction to last 18 – 24 months.
When considering the purchase of a property in Charlotte County in the Port Charlotte or Punta Gorda area, there are many fine options. Rather than spending a million dollars for a condo at the resort, there are many exceptional choices in the area for only a fraction of that amount. You can still have the benefit of visiting the restaurants and shops at the resort while owning a very nice property that can be used as an investment when you are not using the home or condo.
