Most of the development occurred after World War II and now is a popular tourist destination and many winter residences.
Venice Island and Nearby Venice:
Venice, Florida is one of the still relatively “undiscovered” cities in Florida. The quaint island enclave has a beautiful down town area with many fine restaurants and shops. There are condos in a wide range of prices on the beach and around the island within a short walk of the beach. There are also very affordable condos off the island from where the adventurous can walk or bike or take a short car or moped ride. A visit to Venice is not complete without a visit to Sharkey’s on the Pier where you can fish, watch the sunset, have dinner and drinks and dance the night away!
Boca Grande:
These condos are on Gasparilla Island and the town of Boca Grande. The long, narrow barrier island has miles of unspoiled beaches and a beautiful, quiet small town that retains the ambiance of Old Florida.
Manasota Key:
Manasota Key is the next barrier Island north of Gasparilla with a nice choice of luxury and affordability. Manasota Key is an “out of the way” island that allows quiet relaxation and spectacular sunsets.
Englewood Beach and Lower Cape Haze Area:
Englewood Beach is also on Manasota Key. Englewood Beach offers some very affordable condos that are not immediately on the barrier island but a bike ride or short car ride away and still very near the beach.
