Sarasota named among the top 3 Happiest Seaside towns

According to Coastal Living Magazine, Sarasota was ranked in the top 3 among Happiest Seaside Towns for 2017. You don’t have to look to hard to find out why!

The article refers to Sarasota as a city of surprises mentioning the arts and cultural attractions such as the opera, ballet companies, as well as the symphony orchestra. In addition to those, I would like to add the Ringling Estate and museum, Selby Botanical Gardens, and the Farmer’s Markets which boast local artists and artisans. The various architectural styles and waterfront homes make Sarasota rich in history and culture as well. Not to mention the mid-century modern architecture as referred to in the article.

Let’s not forget one of the main reasons Sarasota is considered such a happy place. It’s the water and beaches! Miles of amazing waterfront and beaches draw people from around the globe, most notable among them the famous Siesta Key Beach. With its white powdery sand to its crystal clear water, it definitely puts a smile on your face.

Sarasota boasts a fun downtown area with local restaurants and amazingly unique cuisine. One of the things I enjoy most about Sarasota is the diverse melting pot of humanity. This diversity is reflected in the proprietors of our local restaurants. It is easy to find a laid-back waterfront tiki bar where you can have your umbrella drink and a tasty burger while watching the boats glide by. But you can upgrade your experience, put on your finer duds and sit down at some of the finest seafood restaurants anywhere in the country. The atmospheres are as unique as the food and drink options!

This is not the first time Siesta Key or even Sarasota have been in the national spotlight. In 2011 Dr. Beach ranked Siesta Key beach as the #1 beach in the country and #2 in 2016. In April 2015 Time magazine rated Sarasota-Bradenton-North Port as the city with the greatest well being in America according to a Gallup Poll. For those of us who call Sarasota home, it comes as no surprise that with so many restaurants, shops, arts/cultural venues and views for miles that it would make people so happy.
