About Sea Lions: On the Water’s Edge

On December 1, 2012, Mote Marine Aquarium unveiled their new limited time exhibit, Sea Lions: On Water’s Edge. The exhibit features three Pantagonian sea lions: Stella (6 years old), Rose (4 years old), and Kitty (3 years old).

Sea lions are not native to Florida, so it is rare to have the opportunity to learn more about this wonderful species and the conservation efforts that are being made to protect them. While we have all heard of sea lions, Mote will explain and demonstrate just how intelligent these creatures are, how they have their own personalities, and show you some of the sea lions natural abilities.

I was at this exhibit last week and thought that it was spectacular. The animal trainers are friendly and provide an informative and entertaining demonstration with the animals. You can walk right up to the tanks and get very close to the stage. After the demonstration session ended, you can even meet the animals and get a picture (for an additional fee). It was a great experience that I will explore again before the exhibit concludes in April.

• Price is included with regular admission
• Mote is open 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily, 365 days a year
